Excel Locker
Add password protection to Excel workbooks, sheets, ranges, and VBA projects.
1. Upload workbook
Supports .xls, .xlsx, .xlsb, and .xlsm (max 20 MB).
2. Choose protection
Pick a lock type, then configure the options shown for that type.
VBA Project Lock requires a macro-enabled or binary workbook (.xlsm or .xlsb) that already contains macros.
Workbook Lock — Protection Modes
Choose one mode. Cell editing stays available unless you also use Worksheet Lock later.
Structure lock is lightweight protection for shared workbooks. Encrypt modes need .xlsx or .xlsm.
Worksheet Lock
Protect whole sheets or specific ranges.
VBA Project Lock
Purpose: Protect VBA project code from unauthorized viewing or editing.
- Allowed formats: .xlsm or .xlsb with a healthy VBA project
- Not supported: .xlsx / .xls — convert first
- Important: Keep an original backup before locking
Password
Use at least 4 characters. You will need this password in Excel to unlock protection.
3. Apply & download
Review your choices, apply protection, then download the secured workbook.
Limits & notes
- Supported: .xls, .xlsx, .xlsb, .xlsm (local server processing).
- AES-256 encrypt modes require .xlsx or .xlsm.
- VBA Project Lock requires .xlsm / .xlsb with macros.
- Default max upload: 20 MB (or your plan limit if lower). Files stay in your session until Reset.
